Context-3.x and Zen-2.x in Drupal

Playing around with the Context-3.0 Drupal module, I found out there was a slight conflict with Zen-2.x theme that I use.

The problem arises with how Context and Zen theme handle blocks, both overriding the theme_blocks() theme hook.  So, what happens is that Context's rules don't work, as Zen wins with the last hook override.  So the solution, is to combine both sets of logic in a theme_blocks function in your template's "template.php".  Utilizing a fix that works with Context 2.x, I came up with the following fix that works for 3.x:

Hey, I should probably be blogging.

Welcome 2010!!! It's a new year, a new decade, a new realm to play with new creations. Where have I been the first 3 months of it?  Playing playing playing, here are a few things I've been working on.

Dreamhost = Nightmarehost [UPDATE]

If you are seeing this blog post, that means mbu Creations has finally moved off of the nightmare that is Dreamhost. From their horrible shared hosting, to their even worse virtual private servers, and completely non existent support structure, a move was not only suggested but was needed. I think that Dreamhost has gotten to the point where they've signed up so many users they can't adequately serve or support their infrastructure.

So where are we now?

I am happy to say all services have been moved over to Media Temple. Thus far, Media Temple is eons better than Dreamhost, and we are only hosting on their GridService (for now).
[UDPATE]

Wow

I always had an amazing love of the new White House web site.  Never did I realize it was powered with my favorite content management system!  Here's a link to the article I just read that gives an in depth look at the project and some of the parties involved: via O'Reilly

Sexy Powers

This surprisingly happens to me at least once a day.

Virtually Private: server results thus far

So, for the past 2 days I've been testing the site out on a virtual private server.  And I must say, I'm extremely impressed.  With the addition of the private resources, XCache, and some tweaking, the site is blazing fast.  I haven't gotten a single error yet (knocks on wood ferociously).  If this handles pressure like this, I will DEFINITELY be keeping my services here, especially with some high profile projects that will be hosted here just now in the planning stages.

Woot!

Virtually Private

So this week, I'll be testing out the site on a virtual server.  Should be interesting.  For the price, if I like it I'll keep it, especially since it offers easy customizable bursting in case I or one of my other sites gets hammered.  It will also hopefully solve some of the numerous issues on whatever shared server they put my site on.  These include 500 errors, timeouts, PHP errors, speed issues, and various other fun things I've gotten thus far.  So, Dreamhost, I implore you to impress me, or it may be time to go host shopping again.

Then again, maybe Drupal is best for it's on server down in the basement?

 * UPDATE *

Faulty 3GS GPS modules floating around?

I'm starting to think there are some faulty GPS running around in these new iPhone 3GS models.  I have maybe gotten 3 or 4 successful tracking connections since getting the phone back on June 19th, which is unacceptable given how much I use GPS.  I would usually lend this to my normal paranoia, but I've found too many posts via Google confirming my suspicions.

I have tried numerous of fixes, urban myths, and voodoo, none that have worked to my satisfaction.  So today, back to the Apple store it goes. Hopefully the "genius" bar will not make me angry, as I've found that I tend to know way about stuff then they ever do.  In either case this should be interesting.

And yeah, that's Beijing in that search, as I was trying to prove to somewhere where it was on the map, which is sad, as they've actually BEEN there.

*whistle*

Ah, finally time to blog.  I have been incredibly busy the past few weeks, not much time to focus on this site.  I'm not complaining, as being this busy is great, I just really need to catch up on articles I'm supposed to be putting up here, and working on my creative elements section of the site.  Especially since I need to let people know all the things offered by mbu Creations.

Hopefully soon, I will take a break and focus on creativity for ME.
