Hey, I should probably be blogging.
Welcome 2010!!! It's a new year, a new decade, a new realm to play with new creations. Where have I been the first 3 months of it? Playing playing playing, here are a few things I've been working on.
Mobile Development
This year, we will hopefully delve into creating some mobile apps for the Android and iPhone platform. Already with a few ideas in mind, don't be surprised to hear some upcoming news on that soon. I've been playing around with Xcode and the Android Development API, and I've been messing around with a few tools like Appcelerator's Titanium, which is supposed to allow you to easily develop native mobile and desktop apps using the same technologies you'd use on web sites. Pretty cool stuff.
One of the biggest helps with iPhone development and picking up on general Objective-C and Cocoa development has been the Stanford iPhone development class over iTunesU. Thank God for open source knowledge!!
Me Development
I read on a blog that it's good to have a personal site that act's as a digital business card, a vCard if you will. So another little project I've been working on is finally setting up "MarshallUpshur.com". Hopefully I will be done within a few days, I've gotten addicted to toying and experimenting with CSS3 and jQuery thanks to the template I modified.
I've also upped my reading intake. Aside from following an ever growing list of developer and design blogs (thank God again for Google Reader), I've got several books on the table:
- The Principles of Beautiful Web Design (since I missed his AWDG talk thanks to work, thanks <workplace>)
- The Genius Machine: Eleven Steps That Turn Raw Ideas into Brilliance
- The Pragmatic Programmer (re-reading, I'm rusty)
- Programming Interviews Exposed: Secrets to Landing Your Next Job (yes, it's that time again)
Lot's of reading to do...
And, I think that's it. I really need to start blogging more. Hopefully I'll be able to maintain doing it weekly, as well when I find something truly interesting that I want to blab on about... we'll see.
